This warming, golden yellow tonic is a perfect way to jump start a day of healthy, clean eating. It gets you and your system in the mood for wellness. The ginger and lemon are awesome digestive aids in the case of over indulgence the night before.
1 cup filtered water or coconut water
1” piece of ginger, chopped into small pieces
2” piece fresh turmeric, grated or 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
1 lemon squeezed for its juice
2 black peppercorns
Drizzle of raw honey, if sweetness is desired
Pour water into a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Tip in the lemon juice, ginger chunks, turmeric, and black peppercorns. Give a swirl and let simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let cool slightly. Drizzle in some raw honey and give the mixture a stir. Pass the tonic through a fine mesh strainer, pouring the hot liquid into the desired serving cup.
